Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani Saturday said that provision of justice was a noble service and a moment of justice was better than thousands of nights of worship.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony of the district bar association in his honour here at Justice Nazeer Shaheed Siddiqui Hall.
The chief justice said that he had always tried his best to be highly careful and avoid any deliberate mistake.
He said that other members of his family had joined the civil service but he was not interested in it.
He added he wanted to transform society where everyone had easy access to justice.
He said "His job as a judge is not a bed of roses as judges are more accountable".
Jillani recalled that he had started the profession as a lawyer 40 years ago in Multan and the city had shaped his dreams into reality.
The chief justice urged the lawyers to work hard and avoid frustration or disappointment and lauded the role of lawyers, civil society and the media for restoration of an independent judiciary.
He hoped lawyers would play a role in case of any threat to the constitution in future and judges would also honour their oath.
