47-Pound Tumor Successfully Removed From Woman

In April of this year, doctors in Tucson removed a 47 pound tumor from a woman. Reportedly, it took surgeons at the University of Arizona Medical Center 10 hours to complete the tedious operation.
In April of this year, doctors in Tucson removed a 47 pound tumor from a woman.
The patient, identified as Marcey DiCaro, suffered from a heart attack during the surgery but thankfully, doctors along with anesthesiologists and nurses were able to bring her through the procedure.
Reportedly, it took surgeons at the University of Arizona Medical Center 10 hours to complete the painstaking operation.

In March of 2012, a scan revealed she had a massive tumor in her vena cava, which serves as the body’s biggest vein. Making matters even worse, DiCaro had no insurance at the time.
It took two years to get her coverage firmly settled. Unfortunately the extra time had allowed the tumor to grow bigger, which in turn complicated the recent operation.
One of her kidneys was encased by the mass, so it had to be removed along with her gall bladder. DiCaro is now back home and tumor-free.
She said “If the tumor had been let go, it would have killed me. The whole team approach was wonderful. I'm happy to be going on walks and getting back in the pool and getting out and enjoying life.”
