Minnesota teen John David LaDue charged with plot to murder family and massacre students

A horrific plan by a teenager to murder his family and commit a school massacre has been thwarted by police in Minnesota.
Seventeen-year-old John David LaDue told police he planned to first murder his family, before setting fires in the woods to draw away first responders.
He then intended to enter his school during lunch hour, shoot the school security guard before setting off bombs and shooting as many students as possible.
Authorities first began attempting to identify a suspect in late March after melting snow revealed two pressure cooker bombs at a local elementary school playground.
Police found their suspect after a woman who saw LaDue enter and exit a storage unit with a backpack called police to report 'suspicious behavior'.
Cops later discovered an arsenal of weapons, assault rifles, handguns, 400 rounds of ammunition and several functional bombs at the storage unit and at LaDue's home.
LaDue allegedly told police he idolized Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and that he had planned to die in the attack.
