Chris Lane murder: three bored, dumb and dumber teens charged

Last Friday in Duncan, Oklahoma Australian baseball player Christopher Lane of Melbourne was senselessly shot in the back and killed, while he was out on a jog, by three teens that randomly targeted him to avoid being bored.
Chancey Luna, 16 and James Edwards, 15, have been charged with first-degree murder, while Michael Dewayne Jones, 17, has been named as an accessory. The trio will be charged as adults.
Lane was visiting Duncan because that's where his girlfriend and her family live. He happened to job by a home that the boys were staying and that led to him being murdered in cold blood at random, Police Chief Danny Ford said on Monday.
"They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: 'That's our target,'" Ford said. "The boy who has talked to us said, 'We were bored and didn't have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.'" After they selected lane, the three teens got into a black Ford Focus. Jones was the driver, with Luna in the passenger's seat and Edwards in the backseat. The three followed Lane in their car and then drove up to him and Luna shot him in the back with a .22 calibre revolver and then they just sped off.
Witnesses said Lane stumbled across the road and then got down on his knees before getting to a drainage area by the side of the road. A woman from a house close by administered CPR while another woman driving by stopped and called 911. Paramedics and police were on the scene within minutes and transported Lane to a hospital. Lane was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Maybe it's time politicians and lobbyists actually get serious about gun control, or just let everyone keep their guns. Let's just outlaw bullets instead.
