Teens Wear Protective Masks During Prom to Support Friend With Cancer

A group of teenagers in Woodbridge, Virginia are warming hearts all across the country. Over a dozen teens banded together to wear masks on prom night to support their friend with cancer.
Last September, 18-year-old Jared Hill learned he had testicular cancer. He was also informed by his doctor that he would have to undergo chemotherapy and if he wished to attend prom, he would have to wear a mask to ensure he didn’t get sick.
Despite the setbacks, Jared still wanted to take his girlfriend Emily Jarrell to prom. In an effort to make Jared feel comfortable, Emily decided to ask their friends to wear masks as well. They all agreed.
On the evening of the prom, all 17 friends gathered to take prom photos wearing the protective masks. They continued wearing the masks for the entire night.
Now, a picture of the supportive group has gone viral. One of the friends who took part in the sweet gesture stated ‘My whole group is just really happy our story is making such an impact on and inspiring other people.’
As for Jared, he is thrilled with what his friends did and says he’s done with chemotherapy, but is not yet cancer free.
