Tokyo teens arrested after gang fight triggered by jilted girl
  • 10 years ago
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested six teenages aged 14 to 16 this past Wednesday on charges related to gang violence allegedly incited by a girl after she was rejected by a boy she liked.

The 13-year-old middle school girl was allegedly seeking revenge after a 15-year-old boy declined her advances with a message sent using the popular smartphone chat app LINE. In September the girl is alleged to have called nearly 20 teens to attack the boy, who in turn called 13 of his young friends to help him out. Five teens sustained broken noses and other injuries in the ensuing gang fight, which occurred in parks and along the river in Tokyo's Adachi Ward.

The girl denied the allegations during questioning, claiming she had never met the boy in person before. She said befriended him after a friend introduced them. She told him how she felt about him via LINE, but he rejected her.
