93-Year-Old Woman Attacked in Hospital

An elderly woman is now recovering from injuries following a violent and unprovoked attack. The troubling incident occurred at San Francisco General Hospital.

An elderly woman is now recovering from injuries following a violent and unprovoked attack. The troubling incident occurred at San Francisco General Hospital.

The 93-year-old lady named Mary Perez had been admitted into the facility for breathing troubles. Perez was resting in her room when a 29-year-old patient barged in and assaulted her.

The attacker, Orin Zebest, was reportedly placed on a psychiatric hold. Hospital workers had been pushing him on a gurney and attempting to take him to the psych unit. During the transport, Zebest was able to jump off.

He immediately fled into the elderly lady’s room and went on a violent rampage. According to Perez's granddaughter, Zebest took hold of an IV pole and swung it at the woman’s head.

Perez was terrified and covered her face and head with her arms. She encountered numerous lacerations from the attack.

Police authorities are constantly stationed at the hospital. (2,2,1) Luckily, Sheriff's deputies were able to restrain Zebest before he could do any more harm to Perez.

Authorities at San Francisco General Hospital have apologized for the occurrence and vowed to review their procedures concerning patient safety.
