Thailand hosts joint military drill with US and South Korea

Troops from United States, Thailand and South Korea conducted a joint military drill on Friday (February 14) as part of the annual Cobra Gold exercise in eastern Chonburi province.
Around 300 military personnel from three countries took part in the amphibious exercise which aims to coordinate operations on both land and sea.
On Friday, troops were taken to the coast by 26 amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) and two helicopters.
The annual military drill is set to involve seven countries -- Thailand, United States, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia, and more than 20 observer countries.
The week-long joint military drill is aimed at attracting more participating countries in future.
A total of more than 14,000 servicemen from Asia Pacific countries is set to participate in the drill, which aims to enhance peace keeping operations.
