WWII Veterans commemorate Anzio Landings on 70th anniversary

Seventy years ago today, a fleet of 374 ships and landing crafts invaded these Italian shores south of Rome during WWII.
January 22 remains a day etched in history as a victory for the Allied forces.
NEWS REEL COMMENTARY SAYING:

It was an invasion that German troops were not prepared for, and played a key roll in the liberation of Rome.
Veterans attending commemorative services in the towns of Anzio and Nettuno recall the events that unfolded that day:
