(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED STORM SURVIVOR SAYING:

"I was in the house, I had just walked inside, I was on the phone. I was watching it, I saw debris coming toward us, so I went inside and shut the door, and seconds later, my friend's dad yelled, 'Get down!' and we all got down, and then the roof just caved in."

In Lebanon Indiana, a car was blown into the side of a Starbucks.

The tornadoes left a path of destruction- in Washington Illinois homes were reduced to timber.

Red Cross workers joined local emergency management officials to set up shelters for displaced residents, even as rescue workers look for more people who might have been trapped in the storm's path.
