À l'occasion de sa dernière livraison à la tête de l'Orchestre National de Jazz qu'il n'a cessé pendant six ans de confronter à toutes les esthétiques des musiques actuelles, Daniel Yvinec s'est associé au producteur et arrangeur new-yorkais Michael Leonhart pour une véritable célébration musicale festive et inventive.
Le résultat est une playlist futuriste et internationale où, à côté d'une poignée de titres originaux, les deux compères sont comme les deejays d'une série de relectures aussi insolites qu'innovantes. On y trouve notamment Serge Gainsbourg, Shuggie Otis, les Korgis, les Talking Heads, Labbi Siffre, Jean-Claude Vannier et Henry Mancini dont l'une des compositions donne judicieusement son titre à l'album.
During his six years as Artistic Director of France's Orchestre National de Jazz, Daniel Yvinec never stopped leading his musicians into new territories, tackling the full range of contemporary music styles. For his swansong, Yvinec has joined forces with the New York producer and arranger, Michael Leonhart, for a truly inventive and joyous musical celebration.
The fruit of the duo's collaboration is a playlist with a strong futuristic and international flavour, featuring several original pieces mixed alongside a series of reinterpretations that are as unusual as they are innovative. Amongst the artists revisited we find Serge Gainsbourg, Shuggie Otis, the Korgis, Talking Heads, Labbi Siffre, Jean-Claude Vannier and Henry Mancini, whose song The Party provides the album with its felicitous title.
