Karytype Demonstration: Printing Photographic Images in Gold-Platinum

The Karytype is the first new photographic printing process with the noble metals in exactly 100 years. For the first time, ever, in the 170 years of photography, it is possible to print with gold and platinum combined. The look is unique because it has the strong Dmax of gold (which is missing in pure platinum prints) combined with the delicate highlight nuances of platinum (which are missing in pure gold, even in the Texas Chrysotype process). With the Karytype, you get the quality you would associate with traditional silver gelatin black and white photographs.

In this video I mix together 3 drops of 10% gold chloride, 1 drop of 10% ammonium platinum chloride, and 4 drops of ammonium ferric ferrous oxalate (40% ammonium ferric oxalate to 10 ml of which I previously added 8 drops of 1% vitamin C solution).
