DNA proves Bulgarian woman mother of mystery child

A Roma woman in Bulgaria is the parent of Greece's mystery child known as Maria.

New DNA tests prove Sashka Ruseva is the mother of the girl, who was dubbed the "Blonde Angel" by Greek press.

One social worker visiting the Bulgarian town says they will find a home for Maria in Bulgaria.

(SOUNDBITE) (Bulgarian) HEAD OF REGIONAL DIRECTORATE FOR SOCIAL SERVICES, DIANA KANEVA, SAYING:

"We will support Maria, and will probably accommodate her in a crisis center or a family center. After that she will probably be sent to a foster home."

Bulgarian prosecutors are investigating whether Ruseva agreed to sell her child in Greece.

Ruseva denies this, saying she left a baby in Greece because she could not look after the child and needed to return to Bulgaria.

The DNA tests further proved what neighbors had suspected.
