Some animals have strong motherly instincts even for young ones that don't belong to them.

That’s the case for a 3 year old Shar-Pei in Tennessee named Ba Boo that took on the role of mother to a kitten.

According to her owner, Sherry Brandt, Ba Boo is somewhat of a couch potato, spending the majority of her time lying around the house. Recently, Brandt’s daughter brought home a small kitten that was picked up from a nearby Kroger parking lot.

The kitten, now named Ally, and Ba Boo quickly struck up an animal friendship. Several weeks later, Ba Boo’s appearance started to change, she began looking swollen.

Brandt was shocked as Ba Boo has not given birth in her life and was never bred. Ally quickly adapted and viewed the lactating Ba Boo as her true mom.

Brandt stated “She seemed to have faith that this was her mom and that she'd get milk. Ba Boo seems to believe that she's the cat's mom. It's just a miracle that she got milk and she is nursing this kitten.”

In addition to feeding the kitten, Ba Boo also cleans and disciplines Ally.
