Wild animals can often get into sticky situations just like domestic ones. A 7-year-old leopard fell into a dry well, located in a small Indian village.
The large wild cat plummeted down 25 feet. Workers of a local tea plantation noticed the distressed leopard and contacted rescue authorities.
Firefighters along with forest department authorities arrived on scene to help. The rescue process took more than 7 hours.
Live roosters were used a bait. They were inside of a cage, which was slowly lowered into the well. The cautious leopard eventually decided to climb into the cage, allowing workers to pull him out of the well.
A local wildlife authority stated “It was a risky operation without applying any sedative to the beast. Catching a live animal without causing any injury is risky.”
After the large cat was rescued, it was taken to a veterinarian for a precautionary checkup. It was found to be healthy and surprisingly, it encountered no injuries during the long and traumatic ordeal inside the well.
