Now that Microsoft's new Xbox One and Kinect have been revealed more questions are now turning to consumer privacy.

Germany's federal data protection commissioner Peter Schaar refers to Xbox One as a "monitoring device," according to a translated article from German news magazine Der Spiegel. The Xbox records all types of personal information including reaction rates, learning or emotional states. The information is then processed on an external server, and who knows what third parties Microsoft may pass the information on to.

The Xbox One not only lets you turn on the TV like a remote control, it will also come complete with the Kinect sensor that listens to what's happening around it. Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One and the Kinect can be turned off completely so owners can at least enjoy a little privacy.

Problem is that when Kinect is on, it is able to track your every move. It can identify strangers, ask them to identify themselves and then create a profile. Another intrusive feature is Kinect's ability to make sure you're sitting through commercials. The more advertising you watch, the more "achievements" you get.

The Kinect can detect not just the pulse in users' faces, but also their facial expressions and where their attention is directed. With all the new boring features Microsoft added to the Xbox One. It seems they forgot why people buy consoles in the first place ... to play some damn games!
