Turkey's Tayyip Erdoğan gets brutal on protests in Istanbul's Gezi Park and Taksim Square

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's brutal crackdown on protesters in Gezi Park and Taksim Square draws fire!

It all started when protesters tried to stop the destruction of one of the last green spaces in central Istanbul, Gezi Park. The police response was totally out of proportion, using pepper spray, tear gas, and water cannons on peaceful protesters. After years of imprisoning students and journalists, the public had had enough, and all walks came out in protest. But the police response just got worse, and at the height of the protests, news channels were ordered to play a documentary about penguins! Meanwhile, PM Tayyip has been hiding out in Morocco on a state visit. Maybe he's afraid of inhaling some tear gas himself?
