Miguel | Gym & Fridge Tour
Singer Miguel's fitness journey began with a bit of stage fright—or rather, the fright of touring and sharing the stage with Trey Sognz. “This dude’s always been super fit,” says Miguel. “I was determined to not look like the scrawny dude on tour.” So determined, in fact, he spent six months prepping for his on stage physique. He now works out a little less (only five times a week!).

Welcome to the third episode of Gym and Fridge—a series where we invade celebrity homes, check out their exercise equipment and poke around their freezers.

This week we’re in LA with singer/songwriter Miguel and his “house of gains,” where the gym isn’t in the garage; the gym is the garage. That on-location fitness spot was created almost as soon as Miguel and his wife, Nazanin Mandi, moved in. The couple takes turns, with Miguel waking up first (around 6AM) to meditate and then meet his trainer for for an early session that starts on a rowing machine and moves to kettlebells, Miguel’s favorite piece of gym equipment.

When he’s on the road, workouts are lightweight, full body—including rope work to help with diaphragm control. “I like doing ropes and singing at the same time,” says Miguel. Singing while battle roping? Damn.
