Presentation by Mr. Harold E. Johnson, Senior Intelligence Analyst at the Army Foreign Science and Technology Center.
Mr Johnson describes the features of new Soviet small arms, including the AK-74 automatic rifle, AKS-74 automatic rifle (with folding stock) wire-cutting bayonet, RPK-74 light machine gun, PKM machine gun, SVD sniper rifle, and ballistic reports on 5.54 mm ammunition and the 30 mm grenade launcher.
Mr Johnson also describes use of these weapons with BTR-60PB and BMP-1 APCs, and organization of the Soviet motorized rifle platoon.
