Sporadic violence erupted across the West Bank and in East Jerusalem on Wednesday as Palestinians marked Nakba Day with protests.

Rallies throughout the occupied Palestinian territories are held to mourn the displacement and dispossession of Palestinians during the war that led to the 1948 creation of the state of Israel.

During a protest at the Ofer prison youths threw objects at soldiers, some with the aid of slingshots, while soldiers lobbed tear gas canisters in the direction of the demonstrators.

A military vehicle briefly caught on fire when it was hit by a molotov cocktail thrown by protesters near the prison grounds.

In Al-Arroub refugee camp, at the entrance of the largest district in the West Bank, youths set tyres ablaze and threw stones at Israeli soldiers who responded with volleys of rubber coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas.
