Store Features Pedal Churned Ice Cream by Bicycles

A shop features pedal churned ice cream from bicycles.

One establishment based in Los Angeles, named Peddler’s Creamery is taking an innovative , yet slightly bizarre approach to the process behind the frozen treat.

Specializing in pedal churned ice cream, the goodies are made completely by human power with help from a bicycle.

Using a nostalgic Schwinn bike, which is raised by rollers, workers pedal for about 3 to 4 miles to freeze a 5 gallon container of ice cream. The owner of the company states “Bicycling is something I’ve been interested in since I was a kid. And I’ve been into ice cream since high school. My first job was at a Baskin-Robbins. I’ve been trying to figure out how to put those things together.”

Adding to the theme, the ice cream ingredients are completely organic. Patrons are allowed to watch as a worker pedal churns the goodies to perfection.

Another bike business, The Traveling Gin Company, based in the UK, provides a unique bar experience while serving gin & tonics, and other cocktails on nostalgic delivery bicycles.
