It's been over 36 hours since student leader Sudipta Gupta died in police custody after a protest in Kolkata. But Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee continues to be in denial. Despite the huge outpouring of solidarity for Sudipta and his family, the CM has declared that Sudipta's death was an accident. Banerjee claimed the student leader was killed when he hit a 'post' and that many of her own party workers had died similarly when they had thrust their heads out while travelling by train. Meanwhile, Sudipta's father Pranab Kumar has claimed that he was beaten to death by police.
