A father kills the family dog to retrieve his son's finger.
A dad in Florida went to extreme measures to help his son.
The 41-year-old man was sent into a fit of panic when he discovered the family dog bit his 11-year-old son’s pinky finger off.
Knowing the pet had swallowed the extremity; he grabbed a gun and rushed outside to the backyard. The concerned father shot the dog and cut its stomach open to retrieve the finger.
Inspite of the quick action, surgeons were unable to re-attach the finger, due to the extensive nerve damage.
According to reports, he had simply been trying to pet the wolf-mix when the animal snapped. The incident has been ruled as an accident by the sheriff’s office. And the boy is reported to be recovering well.
Last year, a dad in Hudson Falls was charged with aggravated animal cruelty. The pet had become aggressive with the child so the father shot it with a .22-cailber gun.
The dog initially survived, but was later euthanized due to its injuries.
