Pistorius granted permission to travel

A court in Pretoria eases Oscar Pistorius' bail conditions, granting the Olympic and Paralympic star permission to travel abroad.

The judge said the athlete could have his passport back.

"That the accused's passport and travel documents of which he is the holder, be handed to the attorney of record. Two, that the applicant be entitled to use his passport to travel outside the Republic of South Africa."

Pistorius, a double amputee since infancy, also no longer needs to report to a probation officer.

The South African sports star is charged with shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February.

The case has stunned a nation that revered the 'fastest man on no legs' as a hero for competing at the highest levels of sport despite being born without a fibula in either leg.
