Authorities are seeking to charge nine people with murder after a devastating fire at this nightclub in Brazil.

Two-hundred-and-forty-one people died in January when a flare ignited the blaze at the club in Santa Maria.

Investigators found the venue's fire extinguishers were faulty and access to the exit was blocked.

They also say local inspectors knew about safety permit irregularities, but took no action.

The club's owners are among those to face charges for murder.

Police say the town mayor may also face charges for administrative misconduct.
