Pakistan blast kills at least 12

A truck races up to a hospital in the northern Pakistani city of Peshawar.

Inside - several men wounded during a bombing at a nearby camp for those fleeing internal violence.

The blast, which happened in the city of Nowshera, on Thursday, killed at least 12 people and wounded 35 others.

One witness said people were busy collecting food when a car bomb exploded.

(SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) UNIDENTIFIED INJURED MAN SAYING:

"Some had come to collect flour, others to get of rations. We were all sitting in a queue when suddenly there was a blast. Then I don't know what happened. I was flung a great distance away."

Near the Afghan border, the camp is home to scores of people who have fled fighting between government troops and Islamist militants.

The Pakistan Taliban, locked in a brutal campaign against security forces, has denied responsibility for the attack.
