Austin based singer/songwriter Brandon Callies will be releasing his latest effort backed by a permanent, seasoned band, and a more focused, cohesive sound on December 10, 2011. The sophomore album entitled, The Gunner, is a collection of songs on which Callies and his cohorts have worked to perfection over more than a year of preparation through performances and recordings. Some may remember Callies from his days as lead vocalist for Dallas heavy metal band Black Tie Vendetta with which he toured across the nation and gained a strong, loyal following not only throughout Texas, but into the Midwest and beyond. In 2009, with Black Tie Vendetta's imminent demise, Brandon Callies decided to pursue a solo, more soulful career path by relocating to the vibrant music scene of Austin, TX and writing an array of acoustic-based, melody laden songs. Initially performing constantly as a solo artist and experimenting with his impressively wide vocal range, Callies decided to expand his sound by surrounding himself with an impressive line-up. Brandon has had the honor of opening up for Chris Knight, Kevin Martin (Candlebox), Ray Wylie Hubbard, Taproot, Vallejo, and many others during his days with previous bands, but it has been the formation of his current band, that has enabled the intensity of The Gunner to be translated into the impressive CD and live show it is today. The band consists of Chris Evans (drums), Chad Rocker (lead guitar) and Omarr Escoffié (bass) who are all Brandon's close friends and in turn, have become his musical family. The group's intense live show has been striking a popular chord with music fans all over the Austin and Dallas areas for the past few months. But plans in the near future see the band gaining exposure beyond American borders, with heavy attention to Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
