Mercury, a fresh new musical element on the South African music scene, is a Jo'burg based band with a quicksilver sound that is flowing its way through popular live music venues.
This independent band, formed in 2012, comprises four seasoned musicians that include Ezra Mercury (vocals, guitar and keyboard) Alron Matthews (lead guitar), Gerhard Oosthuizen (bass guitar) and Loujean Philander (drums).
The band is currently in studio working on their much anticipated debut album and will announce its launch soon.
The music is a fluid, out of this world experience with a hint of The Script, Coldplay and Bon Jovi undertones and a distinct independent flair.
The band describes their style of music as Modern Pop Rock that is complimented by songwriting inspired by a collective love for telling stories. This is particularly true of hits such as Calling it Over,Lullaby and Caution to the Wind.
As Mercury explains: "We want to touch people with our music. We are not trying to sell our music, we want to sell an experience. Each song needs to be an experience through listening."
