Shahzain Bugti Caught Smuggling Arms

On Dec 22nd, 2010 Shahzain Bugti travelling in a large convoy from Afghanistan, through Chaman, was caught by Frontier Constabulary at the Buleli checkpost, trying to smuggle 48 Kalashnikovs, 4 Rocket Launchers, thousands of rockets, Mortar Shells, 5 anti-aircraft guns and 70,000 rounds.

This whole episode of the detention & arrest was televised live, on all news channels, including Shahzain Bugti's frantic telephone calls to the American ambassador in Pakistan.

On Jan 7th, 2011 Balochistan High Court released him on bail.

On April 7th, 2012 Supreme Court of Pakistan cancelled his bail and ordered his arrest. He was taken into custody at the residence of PPP Minister Israrullah Zehri.

On 21st Feb, 2013, a session judge Nooraiz Hooti of a district court of Balochistan, has ordered release of Shahzain Bugti and 26 of his guards, for "lack of evidence".

This is the sort of farcical comedy everyday, that passes for "justice" in the lower courts of Pakistan.
