Jamaat-e-Islami leaders on Monday (February 4) threatened to paralyse Bangladesh if the government does not free its leaders immediately.

Thousands of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and supporters marched on the streets of Dhaka on Monday to call for the immediate release of its leaders accused of crimes against humanity during the country's war of independence.

They went on to warn of the possibility of civil war if the party leaders were not freed.

Nine top Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including the secretary general, are now behind bars accused of committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 war of independence against Pakistan.
