The teams last met in the 2011 season on Thanksgiving night as the Baltimore Ravens posted the 16-6 home win against the San Francisco 49ers as a -3 ½ point betting favorite. The total came in at under 40 points. This was an awful spot for the 49ers as a west coast team traveling east for a Thursday night game with very little preparation. The game was sandwiched between two NFC West divisional games. The 49ers defense was most impressive unit on the field by allowing the Ravens offense just one touchdown and three field goals. It was 6-6 after three quarters. The NFL took action after this game as no Thursday night games will involve cross-country travel anymore. NFL Trend: San Francisco 49ers are 9-1 to the over in their past six games.

Baltimore needed three playoffs wins to earn a Super Bowl berth as the team qualified into the playoffs as a Wildcard team. They opened up the playoffs with a 24-9 home win against Indianapolis. In the Divisional Round they pulled out a 38-35 road win in overtime at Denver. The Ravens are coming of the 28-13 road win at New England in the AFC Championship game as a +8 point underdog. The total came in at under 49 ½ points. After falling behind 13-7 at the half the Ravens outscore the Patriots 21-0 in the second half. Joe Flacco had a good game throwing for 240 yards and three touchdowns. The Ravens forced three Patriots turnovers and gave none back. Baltimore was a mid-pack offense and defense this season by averaging 352 yards per game and allowing 350 yards. The team puts up 25 points a game and allows 21 points

The San Francisco 49ers entered the playoffs as the NFC West division champions and had a bye in the first round. They opened up play in the NFC Divisional round with a 45-31 home win against the Green Bay Packers as a -3 point betting favorite. In the NFC Championship Game the 49ers traveled east and came away with the 28-24 road win as a -3 ½ point betting favorite against the Atlanta Falcons. The over under came in at over 47 ½ points.
