"The people of Egypt will never leave Gaza on its own. And that in the face of this aggression today, we say to the aggressors, we can never achieve peace through aggression."

Egypt underscored its support for Gaza, by sending truckloads of medical personnel and supplies across the border.

So far, over two dozen Palestinians have been killed in several days of attacks, with 3 Israelis killed on Thursday.

On Friday, Israeli police said a rocket fired from Gaza landed in the Jerusalem area -- the first Palestinian rocket since 1970 to reach the vicinity of the holy city.
