Light plane crashes into Mississippi home, kills three

A small plane crashed into a home in Jackson, Mississippi on Tuesday, killing the pilot and two passengers, but sparing the residents of the house.

According to a local newspaper, one woman survived by jumping out of a window.

The other resident wasn't home.

The pilot of the 1972 Piper Cherokee single-prop plane asked air traffic control for permission to land just minutes after taking off.

But the aircraft never made it to the runway, crashing instead into this residential neighbourhood.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority issued a statement saying the National Transportation Safety Board will lead in investigation into the accident.
