Grandma Obama says grandson has done a good job and deserves to win.

As polls open in the United States, at least one of President Barack Obama's supporters is sure of victory.

Speaking from her small village in Kenya, Sarah Obama said she's confident her grandson can clinch his bid for re-election against Republican Mitt Romney.

(SOUNDBITE) (Luo) BARACK OBAMA'S GRANDMOTHER, SARAH OBAMA, SAYING:

"I appreciate it is a tough race but I pray to God that he emerges victorious. I am actually confident that he will win because he has worked really hard for it."

Obama has not visited the town since taking office and the region has received little attention during his re-election campaign.

But his grandmother says his presidency has helped Kenya as much as can be expected.

(SOUNDBITE) (Luo) BARACK OBAMA'S GRANDMOTHER, SARAH OBAMA, SAYING:

"Obama's presidency has benefited this country and the community a lot. But basically he is the president of America, we really cannot expect more than we have seen."

Recent polls show the two candidates in a statistical dead heat in one of the closest races in recent history.
