Bulldozer Dropped From Aircraft

A John Deere bulldozer was held by parachutes as it dropped from an aircraft.

Looking up towards the sky, you might expect to see a plane or a helicopter. But probably not a bulldozer.

Nevertheless, that’s exactly what residents may have seen recently, when a 10 ton, John Deere 450J bulldozer was airdropped from a soon to be retired air force transport aircraft.

The massive machine descended down from 350 meters in the air with the help of five parachutes. The bulldozer was dropped at a site where it will aid in clearing those areas, repairing runways and preparing drop zones.

The machine was specifically tweaked and designed to be able to handle the stress of being dropped from the air. The bulldozer was dragged by the parachutes out of the cargo bay before the drop began, and amazingly neither the aircraft nor heavy equipment were negatively affected.

Both remained in perfect working order. Last year, another surprising object was dropped from a plane.

In a marketing effort, Chevrolet wanted to do something different for their new model dubbed ‘The Sonic’.

The car was loaded into a C130 aircraft and dropped over the Arizona desert.
