Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain said on Tuesday the assassination Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was a tragic incident of the country’s history.
Paying glowing tribute to the country’s first premier on his 61st death anniversary, the MQM chief, in a message from London, said the services and sacrifices of Liaquat Ali Khan that brought Pakistan on the world map as an independent country could never be forgotten.
Altaf said it was a tragedy that the high-profile assassination was still masked in mystery.
“Liaquat Ali Khan wanted to see Pakistan in the line of advanced and developed countries of the world, but he was mercilessly killed in a public meeting in Rawalpindi,” he said, adding that by eliminating him, the path of progress and prosperity was impeded.
Altaf urged President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to bring the facts regarding the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan before the public.
