On Monday October 19, 1987 global stock markets spiraled out of control and crashed as Wall Street suffered its greatest loss ever in a single day when the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) plummeted 508 points.
The infamous Black Monday lives on vividly in the minds of those who still work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Much of the technology has changed since then, but will it be helpful or hurtful in the long run?
Kenny Polcari, who’s the managing director at ICAP Equities, spoke with IBTimes TV about his own person experience while working at the New York Stock Exchange during the crash of 1987, and weighs in on whether or not technology will bring about a faster crash in the future.
