Family Buys iPad But Finds Notepads in Box

A family is disappointed after a box containing new iPad reveals something else.

Who doesn't like a surprise gift?

Bobbi Linden scrimped and saved to be able to purchase her daughter an Apple iPad from Walmart for her 15th birthday.

Once the present was opened, the family was shocked to discover that there was no iPad, but in its place were yellow, junior sized writing pads. The box had originally been covered in plastic, appearing like it had never been opened.

The family immediately went to Walmart, but the manager was suspicious of the story and made it clear that there was nothing that could be done. The family contacted Eyewitness news, who in turn reached out to Walmart.

The company later released a statement claiming that the item was in fact associated with a fraudulent return. Linden was offered a refund, a new iPad, and an apology for the confusion.

Earlier this year, a Washington D.C. resident got quite a surprise when opening his package. Seth Horvitz ordered a TV through a private seller on Amazon.com; but imagine his shock when UPS delivered a box containing an assault rifle.
