Speed demons will surely appreciate an upcoming car that may be the fastest in the world.

Called the Bloodhound SSC, the supersonic car is currently under construction and will resemble a long bullet. Incredibly, it is estimated to be able to reach speeds up to 1,000 miles per hour. Considering a commercial jet flies between 500-600 mph, you will be traveling almost twice as fast in the Bloodhound!

According to ABC News, instead of tires, “It runs on 200-pound circles of aerospace aluminum that can absorb 50,000 times the force of gravity”. The vehicle utilizes a traditional race car engine, along with a rocket and a fighter jet afterburner. The fighter plane engine will be used initially to get the car to reach speeds upwards of 200 miles per hour and then the rocket will kick in to reach the target speed of 1,050 miles per hour, all in approximately 40 seconds.

What do you think? Would you want to take Bloodhoud for a ride?
