In Libya, army officers have been appointed to take over two powerful militias in the eastern city of Benghazi.

The military has also taken over at least one compound being used by the armed groups.
The city's brigades have been blamed for violence that led to the death of the U-S ambassador in Benghazi on September the eleventh.
Libya's president has ordered all militias to join the armed forces or disband.
