Spain has called for tighter safety controls on foreign airlines after low-cost carrier Ryanair made two forced landings in the country due to technical concerns.

A third Ryanair aircraft made an emergency landing in Majorca due to turbulence.

Ryanair claimed the problems were isolated incidents out of a total of 1,500 flights a day.
