A Siberian tiger has killed one of its keepers at Cologne Zoo.

The male tiger known as Altai walked through a gate that had been left open in his enclosure before jumping on the female member of staff and mauling her to death.

The tiger was shot dead by another employee, but the keeper had already died from her wounds.
