The Syrian Ministry of Information takes the media to the site of what the Syrian military says was an attack on civilians and Syrian soldiers, in a Damascus neighborhood.

There have been clashes in the area for the past week.

The Syrian army says it discovered more than 20 bodies at the site when it entered the area two days ago.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) A SYRIAN ARMY OFFICER, SAYING:

"The Army forces followed the armed groups to where large numbers of the terrorists were killed. Others were arrested and a third party ran from the area."

The bodies were shown as reports emerged of a bus load of Iranians being abducted by gunmen while on a pilgrimage in Syria Saturday.

It is the latest in a string of kidnappings of visitors from the Islamic Republic, a country allied to President Bashar al-Assad.
