Many Taiwanese worshippers believe receiving 'fortune money' brings good luck and a more prosperous life. To get 'fortune money,' you go to a temple and ask the god. You then toss two divination blocks to see if the god has given you the money or not.

Most temples in Taiwan that lend 'fortune money' do not set deadlines for repayment or charge interest for the service.
