Libyan fighters cut off Sirte escape route

Fighters loyal to the National Transitional Council have reached the Mediterranean coast near Sirte, cutting off the last land escape route for forces still fighting for ousted leader Muammar Gaddafi.

The loyalists have been pushed back to a pocket of the city known as Neighbourhood Two, where they are surrounded. But the intense fighting continues, and casualties mount.

Al Jazeera's Tony Birtley reports from Sirte.
