British government plans to tackle racism in football
  • 12 years ago
Discrimination has shamed English football this season.

Most prominently, Liverpool's Luis Suarez was banned for eight games for the racial abuse of Patrice Evra, and England captain John Terry faces a criminal trial in July for the alleged racial abuse of an opponent.

These high-profile racism cases have caused the government to intervene, with leading football figures coming together to discuss the issues at a summit held by Prime Minister David Cameron.

Lee Wellings reports from London.
