Colombia pushes FARC to disarm

In the week since the killing of Alfonso Cano, head of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Colombian authorities continue to push for the disarming of Latin America's oldest armed group.
Cano's death is a major coup for Colombia, but FARC remains active in 60 areas of the country with, anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 fighters remaining.
Before his death, Cano had managed to win consensus among FARC leaders to pursue peace talks with the government, but with his death, many residents of areas most affected by the ongoing conflict fear chances for peace have been greatly diminished, if not, halted entirely.
