Civilians stranded in Libya's stalemate

Hundreds of thousands of civilians are caught in the middle of Libya's military stalemate.
 
More than half a million have already fled and 5.000 a day are crossing into Tunisia and Egypt.  But many more remain stranded.

In Misurata, they have been under siege for nearly two months but now Gaddafi's government has promised UN officials safe passage into the city.
