Authorities evacuate residents of China's south-west city of Chongqing by boat, as the Yangtze River reached its peak, flooding into local neighbourhoods.

Heavy rains sweeping across China since Friday have caused severe flooding, leaving 111 people dead and another 47 missing, according to Chinese state media.

Starting Monday morning, the flood waters left hundreds of locals stranded in Chongqing's Yongchuan district.

Rescue operations continued through Monday night and into Tuesday.

Natural disasters caused by the storms have affected about 9.2 million people and forced almost 1.2 million residents to evacuate, state media reported.
