Cheers and tears as Islamist Morsy wins Egyptian presidency.

Cheers erupt in Cairo's Tahrir Square, after Islamist Mohamed Morsy of the Muslim Brotherhood is declared Egypt's first democratically elected president.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MOHAMED MORSY SUPPORTER, EMAD HAMDY, SAYING:

"Thank God, this is a victory from God… I can not put my feelings into words, but we really suffered from oppression and despotism, they claimed untrue facts, they circulated rumors against the revolution, but Allah has decided to void their claims and to grant us this victory."

Meanwhile scenes of grief and anger for the supporters of losing candidate Ahmed Shafiq.

Shafiq was defeated with 51.7 percent of the vote.
